Profile
A well established, award winning Law firm are looking to expand their existing team with highly skilled Draftsman with or without their own following.
Outline of role
The Department deals with all aspects of legal costing arising within the practice including costs recovery and defence, summary assessments, estimates and budgeting, general advice and research, solicitor/ client issues, retainer drafting and queries.
Experience
The Costs team is looking to recruit Costs Draftspeople with proven drafting and negotiating (Claimant and Defendant) experience at various levels to join their team.
Good knowledge of Civil procedure rules governing litigation in England and Wales and costs case law demonstrated with strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
Day to day duties
– The preparation of bills for detailed assessment by the Court/Arbitration Tribunal and schedules of costs for negotiation.
– Preparation of accurate schedules for summary assessment
-Preparation of detailed costs estimates for budgeting , security and specific issues
-Attending assessment hearings, support/ challenge cost claims
-Dealing with opponent’s costs – review claims, preparation of Points of Dispute.
– Dealing with Solicitor/Client disputes
-Provision of general advice on costs case law and procedure
