Job Title: Costs Draftsperson
Location: Manchester, UK
Job Type: Full-time, 39.5 hrs
Salary: £30,000 to £50,000 per annum, dependent on experience
  
Role: We are seeking a skilled Costs Draftsperson to join our client’s esteemed costs department. This role will involve supporting senior case handlers by preparing formal bills and supplementary documents for detailed assessment across fast-track and multi-track cases.
  
Responsibilities:

  • Drafting formal bills for inter partes detailed assessment.
  • Preparing N260 statements of costs and risk assessments.
  • Completing Precedent S and Q documents and initiating Detailed Assessment proceedings.
  • Investigating disbursement liabilities and maintaining accurate client ledger information.
  • Working to WIP targets and adhering to deadlines set by supervisors.

  
Person Specification:

  • 2 to 10 years’ experience in costs drafting within claimant personal injury sector.
  • Legal qualification (LLB, GDL, LPC) desirable.
  • Proficient in drafting Precedent H, R, and Q, and finalising bills in Multi Track and budgeted cases.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Civil Procedures Rules and Detailed Assessment process.
  • Experience with Proclaim Case Management System and Costs Master software preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a dynamic team environment.

  
Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary (£30,000 to £50,000) based on experience.
  • Standard hours: Monday-Thursday 8:30am-5:30pm, Friday 8:30am-5pm.
  • 3/2 hybrid working pattern post probation.
  • 23 days holiday (rising to 26) plus public/bank holidays.
