PIP Disability Assessor – Salisbury
Salary: £40,000 increasing to £42,000 after 12 months
Location: Salisbury
Registered Paramedics – Your Next Career Move Starts Here
Still passionate about helping people but ready to step away from blue-light pressures, long shifts and the physical demands of frontline emergency care?
Everpool Recruitment is recruiting PIP Disability Assessors for Serco, offering experienced paramedics the opportunity to take their clinical careers in a new direction without losing the skills and knowledge they have worked hard to develop.
This is your chance to use your assessment experience, clinical reasoning and professional judgement in a structured, non-patient-facing role.
Why Make the Move?
- Monday–Friday working – no nights, weekends or bank holidays.
- Hybrid working – a combination of home and office-based work, depending on business requirements.
- Improved work-life balance – enjoy a more predictable working pattern.
- Fully paid training – a structured 12-week programme to develop your assessment and report-writing skills.
- Career progression – opportunities to develop into senior, quality and specialist roles.
- Full-time and part-time opportunities – part-time options available following the required full-time training.
What Will You Be Doing?
As a PIP Disability Assessor, you will assess how an individual’s health conditions or disabilities affect their daily living activities and mobility.
You will use your clinical knowledge to conduct assessments, gather relevant information, review medical evidence and produce clear, objective reports to support the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in making decisions about Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claims.
Your experience of assessing patients, recognising clinical indicators, gathering histories and making informed decisions can provide a strong foundation for this role.
You will typically complete three assessments per day, balancing detailed assessments with accurate report writing and workload targets.
This is not an easy option or simply a change of uniform. The role requires strong clinical reasoning, analytical thinking, attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality reports while meeting performance expectations. The difference is that you will be applying your clinical expertise in a new setting, without providing hands-on treatment or emergency care.
What Are We Looking For?
- A fully registered Paramedic with active, unrestricted HCPC registration.
- At least 12 months of relevant post-registration clinical experience.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Confidence gathering information, evaluating evidence and documenting findings accurately.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- The ability to manage a structured workload while maintaining quality and accuracy.
No previous Functional Assessor experience is required, as full training is provided. You will, however, need to be comfortable learning a new assessment framework and adapting your clinical skills to a report-writing environment.
What’s on Offer?
- 12-week fully paid training programme.
- Annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Pension and additional employee benefits.
- Ongoing learning and development opportunities.
- A 5% one-off approval bonus following successful approval after training.
- An annual performance and quality bonus of up to 10%, subject to scheme terms.
Ready to Take Your Next Step? You have spent your career assessing patients, making critical decisions and using your clinical judgement under pressure. Now you have the opportunity to apply those skills in a different way, with a more predictable working week.
If you’re a registered Paramedic looking for a new challenge in Salisbury, we’d love to hear from you.
