A leading retailer, are seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Manager to support the Northern region.
This is a field-based role requiring regular travel across retail stores, distribution centres, and office locations.
The Role As Health & Safety Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance, promoting best practice, and embedding a strong safety culture across the business. You will provide expert guidance, training, and support to colleagues at all levels.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Conducting approximately 70 site audits per year across retail, distribution, and office environments
- Acting as the primary contact for Environmental Health Officers, Fire Officers, and other regulatory bodies
- Leading post-incident and accident investigations
- Supporting the development and review of risk assessments and safe systems of work
- Delivering engaging health & safety training across the business
- Providing practical, commercially focused health & safety solutions
This role requires regular travel and overnight stays several times per week.
About You
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within retail or distribution environments (though other backgrounds will be considered)
- Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience preferred, or relevant operational experience combined with H&S qualifications
- Strong knowledge of current health & safety legislation
- IOSH membership and NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) essential
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Strong report writing and organisational skills
- Self-motivated with a practical, hands-on and commercial approach
- Confident delivering training and promoting best practice
- A collaborative team player
