Registered Paramedics – Ready for a Different Kind of Challenge?

Your career has given you the ability to assess patients, make important clinical decisions and communicate under pressure. But what if you could use those skills in a role that offers a more structured working week?

Everpool Recruitment is recruiting PIP Disability Assessors for Serco, offering registered paramedics the opportunity to move away from frontline emergency care and into a non-patient-facing assessment role.

A New Direction for Your Clinical Career

  • Monday–Friday working – no nights, weekends or bank holidays.
  • Hybrid working – a combination of home and office-based work, depending on business requirements.
  • Fully paid training – a structured 12-week programme to help you develop the skills required for the role.
  • Improved work-life balance – a more predictable working pattern.
  • Career development – opportunities to progress into senior, quality and specialist positions.
  • Full-time and part-time opportunities – part-time options available following the required full-time training.

What Does a PIP Disability Assessor Do?

You will assess how an individual’s health conditions or disabilities affect their daily living activities and mobility, helping the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) make informed decisions about Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claims.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting structured assessments and gathering relevant clinical information.
  • Reviewing medical evidence and considering the impact of conditions on everyday functioning.
  • Applying clinical reasoning and professional judgement.
  • Producing clear, accurate and evidence-based reports.

You will typically complete three assessments per day, so strong organisation, analytical skills and effective report writing are essential.
Although you will no longer be providing emergency treatment or hands-on care, this remains a demanding clinical role. You will need to manage competing priorities, assess complex information objectively and maintain high standards of accuracy and quality while working towards performance targets.

Are You Eligible? We are looking for paramedics who have:

  • Full, active and unrestricted HCPC registration.
  • At least 12 months of relevant post-registration clinical experience.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • The ability to review evidence, analyse information and produce detailed reports.

No previous Functional Assessor experience is usually required, as full training is provided. You must, however, be willing to learn a new assessment framework and adapt your clinical skills to a report-based environment.

What’s Included?

  • 12-week fully paid training programme.
  • Annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Pension and additional employee benefits.
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities.
  • A 5% one-off approval bonus following successful approval after training.
  • An annual performance and quality bonus of up to 10%, subject to scheme terms.

Ready to Explore Something Different? If you’re a registered Paramedic who wants to continue using your clinical expertise without the demands of frontline shift work, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.
