Ready to Make a Change Without Leaving Your Clinical Career Behind? Are you passionate about healthcare but ready to step away from the pressures of frontline care, long shifts and unpredictable rotas?

What if you could keep using your clinical knowledge, develop new skills and make a real difference, all while enjoying a more structured working week?

We’re recruiting Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Paramedics and Pharmacists to join Serco as PIP Disability Assessors in Slough.
This is your opportunity to take your clinical career in a new direction, using your professional judgement and assessment skills in a role focused on understanding how health conditions affect people’s everyday lives.

What Does a PIP Disability Assessor Do? You’ll conduct Personal Independence Payment (PIP) assessments, considering how an individual’s physical or mental health conditions affect their daily living and mobility.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out structured assessments with individuals who have a variety of physical and mental health conditions.
  • Gathering detailed medical histories and exploring their current circumstances.
  • Understanding how health conditions affect everyday activities, personal care and mobility.
  • Reviewing medical evidence and evaluating the information available.
  • Applying clinical reasoning and professional judgement to assess functional impact.
  • Producing clear, accurate and evidence-based assessment reports.

You’ll be using your clinical expertise in a different way, with no diagnosing, prescribing or hands-on patient care.

Why Consider a Career as a Functional Assessor?

  • Monday–Friday working: Enjoy consistent 9am–5pm hours.
  • No shift work: No nights, weekends or bank holidays.
  • Hybrid working: A combination of home and office-based work.
  • Flexible opportunities: Full-time and part-time positions available.
  • Fully paid training: Receive structured training to prepare you for the role.
  • No previous assessor experience required: Your clinical background is what matters.
  • Professional development: Strengthen your assessment, clinical reasoning and report-writing skills.
  • Improved work-life balance: Enjoy a more predictable routine.

Who Are We Looking For? To be considered, you’ll need:

  • Full, active registration with the NMC, HCPC or GPhC.
  • A professional background as a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Pharmacist.
  • At least 12 months of post-registration clinical experience.
  • Strong communication and written skills.
  • Confidence applying clinical knowledge and making independent, evidence-based decisions.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.

Please note: This vacancy is specifically for the registered healthcare professions listed above. Applications from Social Workers, Healthcare Assistants, Support Workers or other non-eligible professions will not meet the requirements.
Ready for Your Next Chapter? You don’t have to leave your clinical knowledge behind to enjoy a different career path. Take the opportunity to use your experience in a new environment while gaining a better balance between your professional and personal life.
