About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Finance Controller to join our dynamic finance team. The Finance Controller will play a key role in overseeing the financial operations of the organisation, compliance, audit processes and to provide leadership to the finance team. This position is ideal for a professional who is ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified within strong knowledge of UKI financial regulations, accounting principles and financial reporting standards. We are looking for a “hands on” individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to driving the financial success of the company.

Your experience:

  • Excellent financial analysis and concise reporting skills
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Team management and development experience
  • Recognised accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA) or nearing completion
  • Relevant sector experience
  • Skilled in producing year-end statutory accounts and managing audits in complex, multi-site organizations
  • Experience with grant accounting
  • Extensive knowledge of financial processes, procedures, and systems
  • Proficient in leading month-end processes and ensuring timely data submission for monthly management accounts
  • Payroll data management for external accountants
  • Understanding of commercial accounting and Gift Aid

Job Role:

  • Financial Management: Oversee daily financial operations (payroll, pensions, banking, ledgers), ensure compliance with statutory requirements, and prepare financial statements and reports for senior leadership.
  • Audit & Compliance: Act as the main point of contact for auditors, manage the audit process, ensure legal compliance (tax, gift aid), and conduct internal audits.
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide financial advice for long-term planning, develop models for operations and fundraising, monitor financial performance, and manage grant and investment reports.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop the finance team, oversee recruitment and training, and promote financial literacy across the organization.
  • Systems & Process Improvement: Improve financial systems, processes, and tools for better efficiency and transparency.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal teams and manage relationships with external partners (auditors, banks, regulators).
